Breast Milk Leak Catcher
A breast milk leak catcher is a device that is worn inside your bra like a nursing pad, but rather than soaking up your leaking breast milk, it passively collects it and saves it in a reservoir so you can store and/or feed it to baby later. They’re great for new mums who are experiencing a lot of leaking and/or who are concerned that this could contribute to an oversupply.
There are a couple of different brands of breast milk catcher on the market, and while they both work in the same way, each one has its own advantages and disadvantages. Some, such as the Haakaa silicone milk collector (also known as a “milk saver”), use suction to maximise how much leaking breast milk they capture, but some women find this to be uncomfortable for their nipple and/or breast, especially when they’re out and about in cold or hot weather. The suction also has the potential to extract more milk than your body needs, which can encourage oversupply and can lead to nipple/areola soreness.
Another option is the kindestCup, which is a breastfeeding leak catcher with a much more subtle design that sits discreetly in your bra and won’t show under most clothing. It’s also reusable, so it replaces single-use breast pads and can save you money in the long run. It’s lightweight, comfortable to wear, and is easy to clean. It also has a raised nipple hole that provides extra space for milk collection and makes decanting easier, plus it’s BPA free. breast milk leak catcher
